IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francis Patrick
"Dr. Pat" Moynagh
February 25, 1939 – February 27, 2024
Francis Patrick (Dr. Pat) Moynagh was born on February 25, 1939, in Axtell, Kansas to John Edward (Ed) and Marie Mueting Moynagh. He died on February 27, 2024.
Pat graduated from Powhattan High School in Kansas in 1957 and then continued his education at Kansas State University, graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1964. He was a proud Wildcat, often wearing the purple of his alma mater.
In June 1964, he married Jane Isch in Hiawatha, Kansas. Following a short time working for a dear friend and veterinarian, Dr. Irvin Schwalm, he served in the Army as a veterinarian for two years, stationed in Fort Ord, California.
In 1967, they moved to Denton, Texas. After working at various locations, he opened Westgate Veterinary Hospital which was his pride and joy. For 40 years, he was a compassionate and hard-working vet who made lifelong friends of many clients, retiring in 2007. His hard work ethic showed in his care for animals all hours of the day, nights, weekends and holidays.
Pat is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Kerry Moynagh of Austin TX; son, Dr. Mark Moynagh and wife, Steffanee, of Ponder TX; and three grandchildren: Cole Moynagh, Cate Moynagh, and Marlee Moynagh of Ponder TX & College Station, TX and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; older sister, Mary Ann Moynagh Brune; older brother, James Moynagh; and younger sister, Elizabeth Moynagh Playfair.
Pat was proud of his agricultural roots — recently managing a successful farm in Hiawatha, Kansas as well as growing & sharing an abundant crop of Kansas sweet corn yearly. Those who enjoyed his corn know it will be greatly missed each summer. He was also proud of his alma mater, KSU; his Irish heritage; his friends and clients; and his family, most especially of his 3 grandchildren who called him Papa.
According to his wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at Jackson Cemetery, Krum, Texas. A celebration of Pat's life for family and friends will be held on the weekend of one his favorite holidays, St. Patrick's Day: Saturday, March 16 from 1 to 3 PM, in his barn in Krum; beginning with a ceremony of military honors.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to The Dr. F.P. and Jane Moynagh Scholarship For Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University and sent to KSU Foundation, 1800 Kimball Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan KS 66502 with notation for Fund #V93869; or the charity of your choice.
