Obituary

Frank Alan Dudowicz, 75, passed away on Sunday May 1, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on July 14, 1946, in El Paso, Texas to Sonia and Frank Dudowicz while they were stationed at Fort Bliss Army Base. Frank grew up living on many U.S. Army Bases in the U.S. and Japan. While stationed at Fort Sheridan outside of Chicago, Illinois, his father retired from the Army, and his family settled in the Chicago suburbs. Frank received an athletic scholarship and attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration. Upon graduation, Frank married his college sweetheart, Marta, on August 16, 1969. He went on to earn his MBA at NIU in marketing and finance and graduated at the top of his class in 1971.

Frank has left lasting marks through his professional career and generous community involvement. His wisdom, leadership, smart business sense, and financial instincts truly benefitted those around him.

Frank built a successful career in marketing, business development, and branding at Scott Paper Company where he designed and launched the first-ever decorative facial tissue box, at Campbell Soup Company where he created new supermarket products and initiated the company's Fresh line, and at Quaker State Motor Oil where he introduced the novel use of a clear bottle so consumers could see the product. During this time, he oversaw marketing strategy, commercial and advertising creative, and generated consumer engagement leading to corporate growth.

In 2001, as a seasoned executive turned entrepreneur, Frank established and expanded the Kwik Kar Auto Service business in Denton and Aubrey, Texas which he and Marta owned and operated for 17 years before he retired. In 2017, the Denton Chamber of Commerce named Kwik Kar of Denton the "Small Business of the Year."

Frank strongly believed in supporting the community in which he worked and called home and looked to give back in any way he could.

He was an ardent supporter of the University of North Texas, and his involvement brought him great joy. He was an active member of the Dean's Advisory Board for the UNT G. Brint Ryan College of Business for the last eight years. His most recent project supporting the RCOB was as the visionary of the college's new branding and marketing effort, which is now ready to move forward. This effort was extremely important to Frank, and he worked on it into his final days.

Frank was also an avid supporter of the UNT athletic program, where he started an annual scholarship program honoring exemplary student athletes attending graduate school within the UNT RCOB.

Frank was a member of the University of North Texas Foundation Board of Directors for the past two years, and a valued and well-respected member of the Budget Committee and the Trust Management/Real Estate Committee.

Frank's involvement in the community was widespread, serving on the City of Denton Planning and Zoning Commission, Point Bank Advisory Board, and as treasurer for the Texas State Inspectors Association where he advocated for vehicle safety standards. He also served on the Automotive Oil Change Association Board, as president of the Kwik Kar Owners Association, and as president of his neighborhood homeowners association.

He was an active supporter of many local organizations: Denton Chamber of Commerce, Denton Animal Support Foundation, CASA, Children's Advocacy Center for North Texas, Serve Denton, United Way, Health Services of North Texas, Campus Theatre of Denton, Denton Benefit League, Solutions of North Texas, Rotary, 100 Club, and numerous local churches and schools.

Frank was a member of the Denton Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. He also greatly enjoyed cooking in his outdoor kitchen with fruits, vegetables, and herbs he grew himself.

Frank was an extraordinary person and excelled in everything he did, including being the best husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Frank is survived by his wife, Marta Dudowicz, daughters Leah Zamzow and husband Robert, Kara Guerra and husband David, sister Patricia Doepke, brother Michael Dudowicz, and six grandchildren.
