Services for Frankie "Frank" Ray Putnam, Sr., 86, of Huntsville, AL, will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 9, 2018, at DeBerry Funeral Home, Denton, TX, with Lt. George Keith of the Salvation Army, officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, OK.

Frank was born August 22, 1931, in Lawrence County, IL to George W. Putnam and Edna Aliene Berkshire Putnam. He passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on June 3, 2018, in Huntsville, AL.

He and Mary Lou Files were married on August 1, 1953, in Enid, OK, just after receiving his Air Force pilot's wings. They were married for 46 years and had one son and two daughters.

Frank graduated high school in Centralia, IL and attended college for two years before joining the United States Air Force Cadet Program in 1950. He served his country during both the Korean War and Cold War from 1950-1958, where he earned the rank of 1 st Lieutenant. After being discharged from the U. S. Air Force, he attended Parks College in St. Louis, IL, graduating in 1961 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

From 1961 to 1962, Frank worked for Convair in Roswell, NM, installing Atlas ballistic missiles. From 1962 to 1968, he worked for Chrysler Corporation testing the Saturn 1B rocket at the George C. Marshall Spaceflight Center, Huntsville, AL. He was employed by Martin-Marietta from 1969 through 1990 where he worked on the Apollo telescope mount for Skylab; testing the Space Shuttle external tank at the Stennis Space Center; and advancing CAD technology in Littleton, CO.

In 1992, he and Mary Lou retired to the Ironhead Airfield Community, Krum/ Sanger, TX area. Frank was a member of the First Baptist Church of Krum, TX and the Mayfair Church of Christ in Huntsville, AL.

He was a former president of the Experimental Aircraft Association, a volunteer pilot for the EAA Young Eagles program, a m ember of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, and the Free Mason Society.

Survivors include his son, Frankie, Jr. and wife, Martha of Cypress, TX; daughters, Luanne Keith and husband, Don of Pulaski, TN; and Laura Junkins of Collierville, TN; brother, Judd Lee Putnam of Aledo, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jack Walker of Litchfield Park, AZ; 14 grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two nephews and two nieces.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou Files Putnam; parents, George and Aliene Putnam; sister, Georgiene Putnam Scott; brother-in-law, Robert Scott; nephew, Steven Scott ; sister-in-law, Betty Barbara Putnam; and niece, Laura Leigh Putnam.

Pallbearers are Don Keith, John Putnam, Phillip Putnam, Christopher Putnam, Lt. George Keith, and Chase Lloyd.
