Obituary

G.W. “Giles” Goin, Sr., 82, of Valley View, Texas, passed away on October 14, 2026, in Buda, Texas.

Giles was born on July 23, 1944, in Sanger, Texas, to James W. Goin, Jr. and Lola Mae Jones Goin. On September 4, 1999, he married Delora Ann Burrows in New Braunfels, Texas. They shared nearly 17 years of marriage before her passing on July 23, 2016.

Giles dedicated much of his life to his work as an automotive body technician. Throughout his career, he was employed by Morton Food Company from 1962 to 1967 and Texas Instruments from 1967 to 1991. He also began working with Brown and Brown Body Shop in 1968, eventually retiring from Caliber Collision 2018.

A member of the Denton Elks Lodge since 1991, Giles was also Baptist by faith.

Giles was truly one of a kind, a hardworking man with a generous heart, a stubborn streak, and an opinion on just about everything. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for storytelling, often telling the same stories time and time again, though the details had a way of changing with each telling. He was a character in every sense of the word, and those who knew him wouldn’t have had it any other way. He loved his family in his own special way, and his larger-than-life personality, laughter, and unforgettable stories will live on in the memories of those who loved him.

G.W is survived by his children, Giles Goin, Jr., Jeff Goin, Sheri Chavarria, Brittani Medina, and James Goin. his sister, Lola June Kirk; and his ten grandchildren, Lindsay White, McKenzie Goin, Madison Goin, Bailey Payne, Gates Goin, Colt Goin, Carsyn Green, Hailey Garcia, Ethan Chavarria, and Abigail Sue Goin. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Hayden White and Knox Hagey, as well as a great-granddaughter on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lola Mae Goin; his beloved wife, Delora Goin; his son, Robert Keith Goin; his brother, J.W. “Coop” Goin III; his sister, Linda Anderson; and his grandchildren, Garret Webb Goin and Jillian Marine Goin.
