Gary Lee Owens of Denton passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Denton. He was born on September 9, 1943 in Denton to R.T. Owens and Lilly Belle (Darnell) Owens. He married Ellen Pearl Ratliff on June 29, 1962 in Denton.

During his life he loved fishing, bowling, golfing, and just being with his family.  His grandkids were the light of his life!  Anyone that knows him knows that he was definitely not afraid of voicing his opinion and standing up for what he believed in.  He had a craft for fixing pretty much anything and had above average organizational skills.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl of Denton, sons; Danny and wife Sharon Owens of Justin, Darrell and wife Jenny of Corinth, Texas, 5 grandchildren; Krystal, Tyler, Brandon, Kayden, and Kinlea, sisters; Shirley Barrett, Pat Craiglow and Linda Hammett, brothers; Buddy Owens of Denton, Ronny Owens, Joe Owens, Mike Owens and Roger Owens. Oh yeah and we can't forgot his sidekick.  Peanut the dog.

He is preceded in death by his son, Darin Owens, his mother and father and sister, Dorothy Bothwell.

The family will receive friends at Gateway Baptist Church in Denton on Sunday, April 30, from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Old Alton Cemetery in Denton, Texas.
