Gary Anthony Picou, 72, of Denton passed away at his home on Sunday, June 21, 2015 in Denton, Texas. He was born on March 17, 1943 in Maurepas, Louisiana to Vernon and Beatrice Picou. He married Catherine Mulroney, whom he met on a blind date in Boston, MA. A loving husband, father, and Roman Catholic, he has also been a life-long fan of the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Astros. He was a member of the St. John Paul II Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.
A Vigil service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Denton, Texas.
The funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Kyle Walterscheid officiating. A rosary will be held at 9:00 am just prior to the mass. The mass will be followed by a celebration of his life (New Orleans style, with a Texas twist) at the Knights of Columbus Hall on 1700 Rainey Rd, in Denton, TX.
Gary is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy Picou; his mother, Beatrice Picou; daughter, Roxanne Towles; sons, Father Gary J. Picou, Sean Picou, and Brian Picou; brothers-in-law, Michael Mulroney, and James Mulroney; uncle, Roy Kliebert; and 5 grandchildren, Ryan Picou, Cameron Picou, Savannah Picou, Brison Picou and Jack Towles. He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Picou; and brother, Michael Picou.
