Geneva M. Barnard, 88, of Justin passed away on September 15, 2018 at her home. She was born in Ponder, Texas to John and Eva (Reed) Matthews on March 5, 1930.

Geneva was adored by all who knew her.  She never refused company even though she "didn't know how to entertain", and enjoyed siting outdoors visiting with friends and family.   She could often be found in her later years picking up pecans in her front yard or tending to her tomato plants in the back.  She told stories of growing up on a farm with her brothers and going out dancing or to watch the local rodeo with her husband and friends when they were young.  She also relished the many family fishing trips she was able to enjoy at her and Wallace's lake home on Lake Texhoma.   Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren all enjoyed the many holiday gatherings at her home and the debate will remain about which is better; her coconut pie or her chocolate pie.  She enjoyed reading, looking through her family photos, her coffee, her Sudoku puzzles, and her little dog Charlie in her lap.

She was a loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter.  Her family had no doubt of her love for them and she will be missed dearly by those left behind.  She is now reunited with her mother, father, brothers, and son in Heaven.

She is survived by her husband, W.D. "Batter" Barnard of Justin, daughters; Debra Womack and Judy Robinson of Justin, Tx., brother, Travis Matthews, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Leslie Dale Barnard, her mother and father, brothers, Marshall, Vauldeen, A.D. and Bill Matthews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 6-7 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. Services will follow at 7:00 PM in the Chapel.
