Obituary

George Thomas (aka G.T. or Tony) Lillard, 91 years and 4 months, of Denton went to his Heavenly Reward on January 10, 2014 at his home in Denton, Texas. Mr. Lillard was born on September 10, 1922 in Era, Texas to William B. Lillard and Margie Ethel Higgins Lillard.

Mr. Lillard was a devoted member of the Green Valley Community Church of Aubrey, Texas and also loved attending Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Denton, Texas where he was also very loved.

Mr. Lillard served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Armored Tank Division in General Patton's 3rd Army. Mr. Lillard was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Mr. Lillard is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Ruth Housden Lillard; three sons, Tony Lillard of Crossroads, Texas, Wendell G. Lillard of Aubrey, Texas, and John Lillard of Denton; two daughters, Darlene Grahl and Kathie Bhatt, both of Denton; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Mr. Lillard is preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters.

The family will receive friends and family at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Denton, Texas with the Reverend Randy Snow and Reverend Wendell G. Lillard officiating. Interment will follow at Belew Cemetery in Aubrey, Texas.
