IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Roy
Lowery
March 4, 1948 – February 26, 2024
George Roy Lowery passed away at his home in Justin, Texas on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the age of 75. George was born in San Angelo, Texas on March 4, 1948 to George Washington Lowery and Lucy Mae Wilson. George served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years before retiring. After his retirement from the military George went to work for FEMA where he worked for another 22 years.
As a boy, he was raised working his family's hamburger stands in San Angelo. Most would say this is where his strong work ethic was born. He was awarded countless excellent recommendations during his service with both the Air Force and FEMA. His attention to detail was like no other, sometimes meaning a task would be redone three times to 'get it right'. George did not take short cuts and strived for perfection in all that he did. He was a quiet man but his passions ran deep. While he received many titles over his life, the greatest was Papa. He cherished his time spent with both his children and grandchildren. Some of his greatest memories were traveling to Hawaii, Disney World, Yellowstone and the family cabin in Ruidoso, along with the annual family Christmas party.
George will be remembered for his work ethic, a Dr. Pepper in his hand, his wittiness, but most importantly, his dedication to his family.
Visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home from 12:00 -2:00 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Monday also at DeBerry's. George will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Cemetery in Fort Worth following the service at 2:00 PM.
