George Royer, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a man of many talents, passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 88. Known for his hardworking nature, creativity, and generous heart, George lived a life filled with curiosity, craftsmanship, and love.
Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, George grew up with a strong work ethic, deep appreciation for hands-on work and creative expression. As a young adult, he enjoyed the thrill and excitement of hot rods. George lived for decades in Joppa, Maryland, where he and his wife, Janet, raised their family. In 2010, they made their home in Denton, Texas to be closer to their grandchildren.
George had a long and proud career as a steel worker, a trade that suited his strength, precision, and unwavering dedication. He was known for his quiet wisdom, generosity, and his unwavering enthusiasm for football. George nurtured numerous interests that shaped his daily life. He was an avid reader, especially of history and biographies, and could often be found outdoors, spending peaceful hours tending to his trees and flower gardens. His yard was a testament to his patience and love for cultivating beauty.
A gifted and creative soul, George was also a skilled drawer, builder, and painter. He had a unique talent for crafting personalized birdhouses, each one thoughtfully designed and carefully made. These handcrafted pieces became beloved treasures among family and friends, reflecting his artistic eye and the joy he found in creating something meaningful for others.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Royer. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Royer; his son Steven Royer and daughter-in-law Holly Royer; and his two cherished grandchildren, Kyra and Evan Royer, who brought immense joy to his life.
A memorial service celebrating George's life will be held on January 5, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in remembering a man who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
