George Weldon Tidwell, 82, of Denton, passed away on July 8, 2016 at his home with family surrounding him. He was born on February 11, 1934 in Tolar, TX to Vannie and Eulah Mae Tidwell. He married Bettye Shires on November 1, 1975 in Corinth, Tx.

George served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1956 with rank of Sgt. George worked for TxDot for 50 years and made many lifelong friends.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Bettye Tidwell, four daughters, Danielle Calvin and husband Charles, Deanna Burgess and husband Daniel, Jerri Hibler and fiancé Todd Bussell, Rochelle Maass. Five sons, James Weldon Tidwell and wife Jennifer, Gregory Scott Tidwell and wife Patricia, Bill Hibler, Tracy Hibler and wife Sharon, Greg Hibler and wife Linda. One sister, Barbara Thompson and 15 grandchildren.
George is preceded in death by his parents Vannie and Eulah, His Son Gregory Casstevens Tidwell (1983) and his Sister Marie Nealy.

Visitation will be Tuesday July 12 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Wednesday July 13 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Roselawn Cemetery.
