Gerald Wayne Cardwell Sr., 76 of Denton, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday February 25, 2016. Gerald was born on December 27, 1939 in Brock, Texas. He married Becky Gentle on November 10, 1961 in the Chapel of Denton First Baptist Church by Dr. LL Armstrong. Gerald served in the National Guard and retired in 2001 from a 30 year career as mathematics and computer science teacher.
Gerald served as deacon of First Baptist Church in Denton and enjoyed his church work teaching the Sterling Smith Sunday School class. Gerald has left behind a Christian legacy of integrity and honesty, being the best husband, dad and granddad as well as uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 54 years Becky Gentle Cardwell, three sons and wives, Chris and Kim Cardwell of Euless, Texas, Gerald and Gailee Cardwell of Murphy, Texas and Greg and Kim Marie Cardwell of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren Rebecca, Brelyn, Griffin, Dalton and Garrett Cardwell and sister Brenda Hagan of Weatherford and several nieces and nephews.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents Pete Wayne and Irene Shirley Cardwell and sister, Mickey Patton.
Services are under the direction of DeBerry Funeral home in Denton. Family visitation will be Sunday February 28, 2016 from 3-5 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. The funeral services will be at First Baptist Church Denton on Monday February 29, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Denton building fund.
