Gerald Lane Jordan, 87, of Denton, Texas passed away on March 10, 2019 at his home.
Gerald was born on June 12, 1931 in Gilmer, Texas to B.F. "Dock" and Mabel (Palmer) Jordan. He grew up and attended schools near Gilmer, graduating from East Mountain High School. He was married to the love of his life, Jo Ann Humphries of Pritchett, Texas. He was a Methodist and a Mason.
After high school graduating in 1948, he entered the engineering program at NTAC (now UT Arlington). Then gave it up for one year and went to work at the Texas Highway Department in Gilmer. After six years as a highway construction inspector, he entered Texas A and M, where he received a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1958.
After A and M, Gerald was hired as an aircraft structural engineer by Convair General Dynamics in Ft. Worth. He continued the same type of work for 35 years working four years at Convair GD; 28 years at Bell Helicopter Company in Ft. Worth, taking an early retirement in 1990; then working as a contract engineer one year at Dee Howard Company in San Antonio and two years at Chrysler Technologies Airborne Systems in Waco. Advanced degrees earned during employment at Convair GD and Bell include his M.S.C.E. from Southern Methodist University and M.B.A. from The University of Dallas.
In 1994 after re-retirement, Gerald and Jo Ann moved back to east Texas and lived at Emerald Bay on Lake Palestine for thirteen years, where they enjoyed golf and other club activities. They have enjoyed living close to family at their home on Denton since 2013.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, a sister,,, Laurel Ann "Lolly" (Jordan) Reed.
Survivors are his wife, Jo Ann, a daughter, Lou Ann Jordan of Denton, a great-grandson Garrett, and a sister and her husband, Marilyn and C.T. Gorman of Gilmer.
A private family graveside service is being planned for a later date at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pritchett, Texas.
