Gilbert "Sonnie" Carter, Jr., 70, of Denton, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013. He was born on January 15, 1943 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Gilbert and Artie Carter. He married Edna Curtis in Denton on May 24, 1985.

Sonnie is survived by his wife, Edna; daughters, Kerry and Leslie Gossett; sons, Stacy and Dean Carter; sister, Jan Holt; brother, Bill Carter; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Collins; and great grandson, Jared Denler.
