Gloria Sue Masters, 84 passed away at Baylor Scott and White hospital on Sunday, February 7th. She was born on January 13, 1937, to Robert Guffey and Jackie Guffey in Munday, Texas. She spent many years in the Munday area before moving to Abilene, where she was a hairdresser for many years, and then on to Little Elm after her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Masters, of Abilene, and her grandson Bryan Collier of Crossroads.
Gloria is survived by four sisters, Diane Lee, Donza Huffman, Bobbie Collins and Glenda Moore. Two daughters, Connie Curry of Lubbock, Debbie Vaughn of Crossroads and two sons, Robert Thompson of Lake Dallas and Preston Thompson of New York City, and three grandchildren, Chad Curry of Lubbock, Chanda Allen of Lubbock and Jenny Sanders of Prosper, along with 9 great grandchildren.
Gloria loved animals, most especially Boone, the golden retriever. She was also a huge fan of decorating all out for Christmas, one of her favorite times of the year. She loved painting ceramics and sewing, sitting outside listening to nature, and crossword puzzles of all types. Gloria was known for her infectious smile and laugh, her quick wit and her kind and compassionate spirit.
There will be a viewing at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Thursday, February 11th, from 2 to 6 pm. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 12th, 1:00 PM, at the Jackson Cemetery in Krum, with Ross Thomson officiating.
