Gloria Veanueva Pruett Anderson, 81, of Denton passed away August 29, 2015. She was born July 1, 1934 in Waelder, Texas to Ben Veanueva Sr. and Mildred Garcia Veanueva and attended Denton public schools. Gloria was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and had many lifetime accomplishments including being a member of the Span Board, the Lulac and Hispanic Chamber, NAACP, Ladies Auxiliary Past President of VFW, and a March of Dimes volunteer.

After graduating a year early from high school she attended North Texas College until she was asked to work for the FBI at the young age of 18. She came back to Denton around 1955 and her many jobs included owning a nursery school, working as a dental assistant, helping establish a Montessori school in Lewisville, and help starting the Lewisville Leader. She owned Pruetts Answering Service for about 8 years until she was appointed by Pres. Reagan to the Small Business Association. She worked closely with both former President George H. Bush and Pres. George W. Bush. She also served as administrative assistant to State Representative Harvey Hildebran and Ronny Crownover. Prior to her retirement Gloria worked as an Administrative Assistant to Myra Crownover.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Ben and Mildred Veanueva, her brother Ben Veanueva Jr. and husband Andy Anderson.

She is survived by her daughters Tina Pruett Shoemake of Highland Village and Penelope Pruett Smith of Denton; her son Robert Pruett Jr. (Chip) of Denton; her brother Barry Veanueva of Sanger, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
