Gonzalo Cruz Nunez, 77 of Denton Tx peacefully passed away on Wednesday August 27, 2025, in Dallas Tx. Small visitation will be held from 9am to 10:30am at DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 West University Drive, Denton Tx, 76201. Interment will follow at 11am at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr, Denton Tx, 76207.

Gonzalo Cruz Nunez was born to Miguel Nunez Sr. and Amparo Cruz on January 10, 1948, in Riviera Tx. Like all the other brothers he followed to work alongside his father at the Family Nunez Garage while attending school in Kingsville Tx.

Gonzalo then moved to Ulysses Ks, where he eventually met and married Ortensia "Tencha" Marroquin on September 13, 1967, in Ulysses Ks. They both moved to Denton Tx, and for the next 56 years, made their home while raising 2 sons, Ruben and David, never leaving each other side. Gonzalo also known as "Frank" or "Chalo" by both family and coworkers, proudly worked at the City of Denton as a foreman for the street department for 33 years, until his retirement in 2001.

Gonzalo was also an accomplished accordion player who enjoyed entertaining both family and friends for many years, playing various clubs and gatherings. Upon retirement he continued to play music as well spending time with his wife Tencha and 3 loving grandkids Victoria, Emilio and Isabella.

Gonzalo also enjoyed trips to various flea markets, casinos, Veronica's café, and especially his scratch off tickets. Although he never said a lot, his actions spoke louder than words.

Gonzalo is survived by his son Ruben, his wife Danielle Nunez, son David Ray Nunez, 3 grandchildren Victoria Lynn Neal and her husband Robert Neal, Emilio Ruben Nunez and Isabella Maria Nunez. Siblings Mingo Nunez, Antonia Trevino, Beatrice Nunez, David Nunez, Anna Nunez, Tomas Nunez, Miguel Nunez, Jessie Nunez and many nieces and nephews and other family members. Gonzalo was preceded in death by his parents Miguel Nunez Sr. and Amparo Cruz Nunez as well as a brother Rudy Nunez and a sister Janie Garcia.
