Greta Wilkomer nee Hoffman passed away on April 4, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Wilkomer and loving mother of Terry (Larry) Caltagirone and Tina Wilkomer; wonderful grandmother of Nick (Tammy) Caltagirone, Joe Caltagirone and great-grandmother of Joseph James, Lindsey and Alyssa; dear sister of Charlotte Cahill and the late Leonard Hoffman. Greta was born on September 13, 1921 in Chicago Illinois to Abraham and Catherine (Pfau) Hoffman. Greta started her career in 1937 as a fashion model for Marshal Field and Company before she became a bookkeeper for the United Clothing Company in Chicago, IL. She married her first husband, Leonard Goodman on August 8, 1944 who was killed in action on March 17, 1945. On October 22, 1946, she married Leonard Wilkomer who preceded her in death on September 6, 1988. She will be remembered for her quick wit, great sense of humor and love of the Chicago Cubs, chocolate, and champagne. A memorial service is pending. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to her favorite organizations AMVETS and the HSUS are appreciated.
