Griselda Delgado Zuniga (Gracie), 72 of Slidell, Texas. The wife of the late Jose Ma. Zuniga and wife of Benjamin Alvarez,  mother of Isaac Teran, Myrna Teran, Jose (Joe) Zuniga, Mayra Zuniga, Juan (Johnny) Zuniga, Noel Zuniga, Rosa Helfand and Marlyn Zuniga, went to sleep on September 9, 2023 at home surrounded by her family.

Gracie worked as a C.N.A. for over 35 years. She was an amazing cook, her favorite was making tamales during the holidays. Even after her accident she was still making them and everything had to be handmade and fresh.

Gracie would love it when family and friends would come over and just eat or drink a Dr. Pepper with her.

Even though she was in a wheelchair she was like a private investigator.  She could tell you who came down the street, what they looked like and what they drove. Then she would call one of her children and asked them to write down just incase.

Gracie loved her family, friends and the Slidell (East Slidell as she would call it) Community.  She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her favorite game was Mexican Lortria and she always won with "La Dama", as she was one with style just like her. She would always say she was deaf and blind, but some how she could play 15 cards with all the kids yelling and would still win.

She is survived by her husband Ben, eight children,  31 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren with one on the way and eleven brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose M. Zuniga, son Alvaro (Javier)  Teran, grandson, Ricardo Chali, mother Maria Luisa Garcia Luna and father Manuel Delgado.

Visitation will be Tuesday September 12, 2023 at DeBerry Funeral Home from 12 to 2pm.

Funeral will be at 2pm with graveside service at 3 pm at Slidell Cemetery, Slidell TX.
