Gurtha Louise Noell, 90, passed on to her heavenly home on October 10, 2017 at the Denton Rehabilitation Center in Denton, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister, and daughter Cinthia Noell.

Gurtha was born September 11, 1927 to Louis and Gurtha S. Armbrust in Gretna, Nebraska.

She grew up on the family farm in Gretna where she acquired her love of all animals, especially cats. She became a teacher in the rural area until she married and had children.  She moved from Nebraska to Illinois and later Wisconsin, but spent her last 45 years in Texas divided between Conroe and Denton. She was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Spring, TX.

She had a passion for reading and especially enjoyed the newspaper comics always sharing them with her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed playing video games and often played them with her grandkids.  She loved growing plants, and put a small greenhouse and aviary off her back porch.  She enjoyed sharing memories of the farm with her family.

She is survived by her children, Kent and Lynda Noell of Denton, TX, Schuylar Noell of Runaway Bay, TX and Laurel Noell of Houston, TX, Grandchildren; Christina and Jim Wallace of Corinth, Melissa and Troy McDaniel of Shady Shores, Stephanie and Jayson Roe of Hurst, Tyler and Mari Noell of Nagoya, Japan and great grandchildren Caden and Brennen Wallace, Jonathan, Julia, and Graham McDaniel, Nathan and Emalyn Roe.

Many thanks go to the staff and residents of Denton Rehabilitation Center for becoming a second family to her in her final years.
