Obituary

Born on January 19, 1928, in Pennsylvania, Mr. Harold "Pappy" Lair answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy right out of high school. His dedication and commitment reflect the strength and character of a true American patriot.

Following his time in the Navy, Mr. Lair built a lifelong career as a skilled tool and die maker, a profession that requires precision, patience, and craftsmanship qualities he carried throughout his life.

At the heart of his story is a beautiful love story. Mr. Lair was married to his beloved wife, Barb, for an incredible 67 years. Together, they built a strong and loving family, including one daughter Cindy College and husband Jan, of Krum, Texas,  one granddaughter Stephanie Sprabeary (Jerry) , of Krum, Texas,  two great- grandchildren Mason Arnett (April) of Valley View, Texas, and Carson Arnett (Hope), of Alvord, Texas,  and now two great-great-grandchildren Barrett and Dakota,  and several nieces and nephews, creating a legacy that continues to grow. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and brother Charles Lair.

After retiring in 1996, Mr. Lair and Barb made their home in Krum, Texas, where they enjoyed life to the fullest. They shared a love for traveling and made many cherished memories on cruises together. They also found joy in square dancing and playing card games-always valuing time spent together and with loved ones.

Mr. Lair is also known for his incredible talent as a master woodworker, creating with his hands and leaving behind meaningful pieces of craftsmanship. In quieter moments, he enjoyed paint-by-number artwork, showing his creative spirit in many forms.

Today, we honor Mr. Harold "Poppie" Lair for his service, his dedication to family, and the life he built through hard work, love, and passion.

A graveside service will be held at Jackson Cemetery in Krum at 10:00AM, Thursday, May 28, 2026.
