Helen James Ament, 92, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 26, from 5-7pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2025 W University, Denton, Texas 76201. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 27 at 10am at Justin Church of Christ, 424 Snyder, Justin, Texas 76247. Burial immediately following at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Helen's honor.
Helen was born in Kennett, MO, Dunklin County, on February 1, 1923, to Louanna Catherine and Thomasson Henderson James, and she was one of 13 children. She graduated from Draughon's Business College in Nashville, TN. She was a member of Justin Church of Christ and previously a long-time member at Birdwell Lane Church of Christ in Big Spring, Texas before moving to north Texas in 2006. Helen cherished her family, was an avid recipe collector who enjoyed baking, and was always working on a crochet or sewing project for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, 6 brothers, 4 sisters and infant daughter. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas Ament, Sr., children Brenda Dye and husband Clarence, Thomas Ament and wife Patty, Mary Gahagan and husband Dennis, Jennie Palesano and husband Dave, Rebecca Ales and husband Cleve, Leonard Ament and wife Colleen; and grandchildren: Aaron & Rebecca Ament, Adam Ament, Aric and Karen Ament, Amie & Marc Fanucci, Ashley & Joey Quichocho, Dillon Ament, Patrick Ament, Brian and Laura Grinnan, Michael Grinnan, Andy & Rachel Grinnan, Jillian Kincannon, Keith and Aimee Watkins, Cara Benson, James Lunsford, Chad Lunsford, Christopher Kidd, Lacey & Mike Holland, Nikki & Kevin Peck, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters.
