Hellon Denise Lee, 66 of Roanoke, Texas, passed away on January 2, 2025, in Denton, Texas. Born on September 24, 1958, in Ector, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of James and Yvonne Lee.

Denise began her career as a police officer in Slidell, Louisiana, where she served with dedication and courage. She later returned home to care for her ailing mother, a testament to her selflessness and devotion to family. For the past 40 years, she lovingly cared for her cousin, Naida Thomas, while also working as a school bus driver for Northwest ISD in Roanoke, Texas.

Denise found joy in working in her yard, hunting for treasures in antique shops, and spending cherished time with her companion and beloved pet, Niko. She was proud to be a member of the Poarch Creek Indian Tribe in Atmore, Alabama, and carried her heritage with pride throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Yvonne Lee; her brothers, James E. Lee and Roy Allen Lee; and her cousin, Billy Thomas.

Denise is survived by her brother, Mark Lee, and his wife Lori, of Springtown, Texas; her sister, Yvonne Berkner of Roanoke, Texas; her cousins, Naida Thomas of Roanoke, Texas; Danny Thomas, and his wife Tamara, of Denton, Texas; her aunt, Ruth Steeley of Ringgold, Louisiana; and many more cousins, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on January 9, 2025, at Medlin Cemetery in Trophy Club, Texas, officiated by Rev. Clay Reed of Southlake Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, Texas.

Denise will be remembered for her caring heart, her unwavering dedication to her loved ones, and the joy she brought to those around her.
