Obituary

Holden Gassaway Stucky was born in March 1993 in Temple, Texas to Alan and Mellina Stucky. He was our second son and one of the brightest lights of our lives for 24 years.

His life was filled with many accomplishments and adventures including singing with the Amarillo Boy Choir, moving up in the ranks as a boy scout, playing the trumpet in middle school band, serving as an acolyte at church, and performing in productions with the Denton Community Theater and the Selwyn School.

Holden was an avid reader and a skilled writer. He had a remarkable memory for historical events, people, and places, and constantly amazed us and others with random facts and insights. His compassionate nature, intellect, wit and humor kept all who knew him engaged and entertained. His travels to Morocco, Thailand, New Zealand, Europe, Canada, Mexico, many Caribbean Islands, and China only helped to broaden and sharpen his perspective of the world.

During the summer months, Holden enjoyed mountain biking in Colorado and fishing and camping with his older brother Addison. During the winter months, he became accomplished as a snow boarder and downhill skier, and many at UNT knew him to travel the campus on his long board.  Throughout his life he shared many adventures, mischief, and loving moments with his best friend and "twin", his sister, Farrell Mellina.

Holden graduated high school from the Selwyn School and was most recently pursuing an undergraduate degree in philosophy from UNT. He was full of fun, very personable, and never hesitated to state his opinion. He had many friends of all ages and from all walks of life. Holden was a bright shiny thread in the fabric of our family's tapestry of life; he will be missed every day and his absence will leave a hole that will never be filled.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother and father, Mellina (Gassaway) and Alan Stucky; his brother Addison and sister-in-law Taylor; and his sister Farrell.
