Pruett
February 20, 1937 – May 7, 2025
Dr. Hugh Zay Pruett went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 7, 2025, in Denton, Texas. He was born on February 20, 1937, in Borger, Texas, to Homer Nathaniel and Amy Pearl (Robinson) Pruett.
After graduating from Borger High School in 1955, Hugh graduated Frank Phillips Jr. College, North Texas State University and Baylor Dental School. He practiced dentistry in Farmers Branch and Carrollton for 30 years. He was a member of Denton Bible Church. Hugh was an avid traveler, a great cook, and loved being with family.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife, Sandi, whom he married in 1959. He is also survived by their son, Barnes Pruett, and his wife, Lacey, of Dallas, TX; and their daughter, Darbi (Pruett) Beck, and her husband, Greg, of Corpus Christi, TX. He was preceded in death by their daughter, Misti Pruett, of Argyle, TX. Hugh is also survived by his grandchildren: Taylor (Ryan) Scoggin, Matthew (Anna) Pruett, Amy Beck, Payton (Amanda) Beck, Kirstin (Joey) May, Kolton (Alyssa) Loomis, Keelan Loomis; his great-grandchildren: Hunter and Waylon Loomis, Margaret May, Nolan and Nash Scoggin, Brielle Beck; as well as extended family and friends he held close to his heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, Denton Bible Missions, or Tunnel to Towers Organization.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 16 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Jackson Cemetery, Krum, TX.
