With profound sorrow and tender hearts, we announce the passing of Ida R. Gaglia, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this life on March 15, 2026, in Denton, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on April 6, 1943, in Vasto, Italy, Ida’s remarkable journey began across the ocean when, at the age of 11, she came to New York aboard the ship Andrea Doria with her father and sister, embracing a new life with courage and grace.
Ida was a woman of enduring love and fierce spirit. She cherished her faith deeply, loving God and holding her family as the greatest treasures of her life. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and belonging, where everyone felt embraced by her nurturing heart. Known for her feisty humor and generosity, Ida gave freely of herself, always offering what little she had to others and sharing beyond measure. Her skill in the kitchen was legendary; she delighted in cooking and adored baking, filling her home with the comforting smells of homemade treats. Alongside these passions, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches, savoring the quiet moments over a cup of coffee, her simple pleasures that brought joy and reflection.
Ida’s educational journey took her through Dodge Vocational High School, where she studied cosmetology—another testament to her caring nature and desire to bring beauty into the lives of those around her. Throughout her life, she held close the memories and music of Elvis Presley, whose songs uplifted her spirit.
Her greatest pride was rooted not in accolades, but in the love she nurtured within her family. Married to Dennis Gaglia Sr. for 63 beautiful years, they built a lifetime together marked by unwavering commitment and mutual support. Her children—Lori Byce, Dennis Gaglia Jr., and Lisa Gaglia—were the center of her world, followed closely by grandchildren Valerie Gaglia, Vanessa Dunson, CJ Dunson, AJ Gaglia, and Tito Byce, and her precious great-grandchildren Kaydence, Eli, Olivia, Porter, Wade, Theo, and Winston. Ida’s extended family and friends all remember her as a steadfast presence, a safe haven when stormy times came.
The past year was marked by a courageous battle with illness, during which Ida was surrounded by the love and hands of her immediate family as she gently slipped away to heaven. Just the day before, she was able to say goodbye to her extended family—a final farewell filled with the love and warmth that had always defined her.
Ida was preceded in death by her beloved parents Maria and Angelo Miscione and her Uncle Frankie Budano. She is survived by her devoted husband Dennis Gaglia Sr., her sisters Angela DiNapoli and Annette Marano, her children and their spouses, her cherished grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, located at 2025 W University Dr, Denton, Texas 76201. This ceremony will honor the beautiful life of a woman who made everyone she met feel cherished and protected.
Ida R. Gaglia’s life was a tapestry woven with love, kindness, strength, and laughter. Her memory will forever echo in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege to know her. As we say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that she now rests in peace and light, having left a lasting imprint on the world and in our souls.
