Frances Imogene McIntire of Corinth, Texas, formerly of Sunray, TX, was born to Henry Harrison Gray and Mary Janie Merrell on January 16, 1929, in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. She grew up in Fannin County in the Honey Grove and Allen's Point communities. She passed from this world of strife to the eternal presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 6, 2022.
Imogene was a proud graduate of Howard Payne College, now University, in Brownwood. She taught elementary school, mostly second grade, for over 29 years. Imogene taught in Waco, Idalou, Dalhart, Sunray, Elgin, and Teague, Texas. Imogene was a 70-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron several times. She loved arts and crafts, especially ceramics and crocheting.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Calvin Mark Gray, her first husband, Kenneth F. Broom, and her second husband of almost 50 years, Jewel E. McIntire.
Imogene is survived by one sister, Catherine Bridgers Harbert of Lubbock and one brother, Allen "Tiny" Gray, and his wife Sheri of Lubbock. She is also survived by her two sons, Forrest Broom and wife Carrie of Corinth, Allen McIntire and wife Tracey of Newnan, GA, a daughter Bonnie Pillans Conner and husband Darryl of Indianapolis, IN, and a stepdaughter, Virginia Bowden and husband Jack of Fort Worth. She was particularly proud of her five grandchildren, Kenny Broom and wife Beth of Denton, Charles F. Broom and wife Christine of Frisco, Jennifer Vallejo and husband O.J. of Austin, Noah C.K. Pillans, and Emily McIntire of Newnan, GA. Imogene found a great deal of delight in her six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Levi, and Elijah Broom of Denton, and Charles H, Catherine, and Coraline Broom of Frisco.
