Obituary

Irene "Kudla" Adams beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, of Denton Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the age 85.  She was born in Adams, Massachusetts to Tomasz Kudla and Zofia Strzepek on April 22, 1939 and was the youngest of 4 children.

Irene was raised in a Polish family and was only taught English by her sister, Celia, at the age of 5 in order to attend kindergarten.  She graduated from Adams Memorial HS in 1958. After graduation she moved to New York, New York where she worked as a ticket agent for TWA, then went on to become the executive secretary to the President of Gimbels Department Store. Prior to her marriage to Bob who she met in New York, she began working at Sperry Rand (Ford Instruments) until the birth of her first child.  After her kids were grown, Irene worked as an administrative assistant to the Denton County Commissioners Office for over 10 years.

Irene and Bob enjoyed traveling, taking the kids on long vacations to all the corners of our country, participating in air races in one of Bob's small planes across the US with cherished friends, and several excursions to other parts of the world.  Some of her favorite passions were painting, sewing, quilting and, in general, all things arts and crafts.  She was a devoted Catholic throughout her life, serving God in various ways, including being a Eucharistic Minister for several years.

Although during her final years she struggled with frontal lobe dementia, this did not diminish her love for life.  She always took time to socialize with everyone she met, kept up with her grandkids, loved on her cat Daisy, and watched her favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs; and let's not forget the fun she had sneaking away to play the slots at the casino every chance she could.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Amelia (Amy) Jozefiak, Celia (CiCi) Kudla, brother Kazimierz Kudla, and her infant son Garrett Scott Adams.

Irene is survived by her husband of almost 62 years Robert Adams (Bob), son Christopher Adams of Flower Mound, daughter and son-in-law Brenda and David Williams of Grapevine, and Monica Adams; as well as four grandchildren, Audrey Adams, Matthew Adams, Nicholas and wife Claire Williams, and Kassidy Williams; great-grandson Reyland Gonzales, as well as beloved nieces and nephews Paula, Bruce, Eric, Jeff and Nick… and many good friends.
