IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jace Hill
Powell
February 9, 1987 – February 12, 2022
Jace Hill Powell went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 12, 2022 after a lengthy illness. He passed away peacefully at his mother's home, surrounded by his family.
Jace was born on February 9, 1987 to Joe and Angie Powell of Denton Texas. He graduated from Denton High School, Class of 2005 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business and Media from Austin College in Sherman Texas, Class of 2009. Additionally, during his four years at Austin College he played football (Go Roos!) and was a member of Pi Alpha Psi Fraternity. Not satisfied with these achievements, he enrolled in Oklahoma City University where he attained a Masters of Business Administration and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 2012. Although he spent many years of study and work in the legal field in Oklahoma, he remained focused on returning to his beloved Texas. He returned in 2018, becoming an attorney for the Silvera Law Firm in Dallas.
He loved golfing, snowboarding and cooking and was very keen traveler. A great deal of his spare time was dedicated to being a board member and General Counsel of Texas Cowboys Against Cancer, a charitable organization that financially assists cancer patients. TCAC was originally founded in honor of his late Aunt Johnnie Neely. Jace's father, Joe Powell, was one of the founders of that organization.
Jace was preceded in death by his father, Joe Powell, his grandparents Howard Powell and O.D. and Bonnie Owens, and Aunts Gayla Powell and Johnnie Neely.
He is survived by his mother, Angie Powell, Aunts and Uncles Fran and Bobby Fritz, and Cindy and Sam Schiller; Cousins Amy Gatlin and husband Justin; Ben Crowell, wife Kate and children, Herd Crowell and Bridger HILL Crowell; Clint Crowell, wife Kara and children Harper Crowell and Housten Crowell, and Cousins Robert Genova, Don Lynch and Tracy Lynch and their children.
Visitation will be at DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 W. University Dr, Denton, TX on February 15, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held Thursday February 17, 10:00 AM, First Denton Baptist Church, 1100 Malone Street, Denton Texas.
