IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jack Thomas
Ragsdale
May 15, 1939 – November 8, 2025
JACK THOMAS RAGSDALE, son of the late L. D. Ragsdale and Margaret Reinhardt Ragsdale, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by siblings Bob and wife Pam, Bill and wife Carolyn, and Pat Mayfield and husband Paul. Jack attended Reinhardt Bible Church and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in a Bible club led by his mother.
Jack grew up on a farm in Dallas and learned to work hard - working early each day before school and then after school until dark. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, he spent 2 years in the Coast Guard (he loved telling about those experiences on the water) and then attended and graduated from East Texas State in Commerce, Texas. He began working for Ford Motor Company Tractor Division and retired from there after 32 years.
Jack met and married Betty Duncan in 1968 while attending First Baptist Dallas and listening to Dr. W. A. Criswell. Jack's work with Ford took him from the Dallas office to Kansas City, Missouri; Troy, Michigan; Enid, Oklahoma; and eventually to Cabot, Arkansas where he retired and started a second career selling real estate. He moved to Denton, Texas in 2003 and continued selling real estate there.
Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years Betty and children Daniel and wife Susan of Madison, Alabama; John David and wife Vivian of Euless, Texas; Mark of River Oaks, Texas; and Sharon Rosendahl and husband Dan of Double Oak, Texas. He has 4 grandsons Andrew, Brennan, and Luke Ragsdale of Alabama and Aiden Rosendahl of Double Oak. He loved hearing of their interests and continually encouraged them in their Christian lives.
After various health struggles including cancer (multiple myeloma) the past few years and a recent stroke, God called him home. He had a long life from May 15, 1939 to November 8, 2025 - 86 years. His focus was always on sharing his faith through the Gideons (joined 1976) and on wanting all he met to know about and accept God's gift of salvation.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at Denton Bible Church (2300 E. University Dr, Denton, Texas). Visitation will be at 9:00am, 10:00am service, and burial following at Roselawn Memorial Park (3801 Roselawn Dr, Denton, Texas). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Gideons International (sendtheword.org).
