James Robert Brown, 85, of Shady Shores, Texas passed away on September 6, 2024, in Denton, Texas. He was born in Shady Shores, Tx., on April 20, 1939, to Johnie and Narcia Viola Brown. He grew up with two sisters and several cousins. He attended Denton High school where he was a member and officer of the FFA. He was in the United States Army stationed in El Paso where he often rode bulls for fun. He met his wife Elois in Denton and married her October 8, 1964. He brought her to live in Shady Shores where they have spent the last 60 years building a family on their farm.

He was an electrician for Dick Blair Electrical before becoming an electrician for North Texas State University which later became UNT. He retired from UNT after 30 years. He was also a farmer who was devoted to his cows and chickens. Friends and family often would find him talking to said cows or chickens and if they could not find him there, he was on his tractor. One of his proudest accomplishments was instilling a love of animals and agriculture to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Elois Brown, of Shady Shores, Texas, daughters, Tonya Webb and husband Casey of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Talyn Clark and her husband, Jonathan of Shady Shores, Texas, and son, Shawn Brown and his wife, Porntipa of New Zealand,  grandchildren Shawna and Chris Jenne, James and Kelly Myers, Christopher Brown, and Jonathan Brown, bonus grandchildren Erycka Nabors, Sam and Samantha Hadaway, bonus great-grandchildren Alexander, Kamylle, Emma, and Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters, Frankie Lee and Madeline Murray, and granddaughter Jasmine Brown.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 5 PM Until 7 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Shiloh Cemetery in Corinth, Texas.
