James Thomas Collvins passed away April 25, 2012, at St. Paul's Southwestern Hospital in Dallas of acute leukemia at the age of 66. James grew-up in Bowie, TX graduated from BHS in 1963 and later UNT. He was an accountant by profession who later built Quail Creek Range in 1980 and operated it until the present.
He married Janice Hester from Bowie in 1967 at the First Baptist Church. They resided in Denton for 40 yrs then moved to Krugerville, TX 6 yrs ago to return to the small town live they enjoyed.
He enjoyed hunting, guns, motorcycles, RVing, and 4-wheeling in Southfork, CO where they had a cabin and enjoyed that area for many yrs. He and Janice are members of DBC where he worked security. He loved Pastor Tommy teachings and Wed. AM class.
He was preceded by his parents, James H. and Hazel Collvins of Denton, TX, Surviving are his wife, Janice, his sister, Sarah Chandler, and husband Danny of Pilot Point, TX. , brother, James H. Collvins of Elko, Nev., Nephews Logan and Tanya Chandler of Calisburg, Barry and Sarah Chandler of Pilot Point, TX, and beloved dog Roxy.
Memorial services will be held Sun. April 29 at White Family Funeral Home on Hwy 59 in Bowie, TX from 2-4 PM. Funeral services will be held Mon April 30 at 1 PM at Denton Bible on Hwy 380. A reception following the service will be at the fellowship hall at the church.
Body will be available at DeBerry Funeral Directors on University Dr. in Denton on Friday, April 27, 2012.
