James Alvin Crawford 91 of Denton passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Presbyterian Hospital of Denton. He was born January 11, 1923 in Aubrey to Alvin William Crawford and Hazel Linnie Romack Crawford. James graduated from Aubrey High School and married Joyce Marie Coston November 17, 1966 in Dallas. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2005. They were members of the Lake Cities United Methodist Church.
James was employed by Blanks Engraving in Dallas for 50 years. He was a Purchasing Agent and Photo Engraver. He was the former Post Commander at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lake Dallas. He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 and was a Corporal when discharged.
Funeral service will be in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
Survivors include a son, Jim Ed Crawford of Rising Star; daughter, Peggy Joyce Crawford of Maria Delray CA; step daughters, Karla Riley of Irving and Kathy Colsom of Ponder; step son, Don McWhirter of Aubrey; a brother, Billy Tom Crawford of Waxahachie; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Doris Elaine Strickland.
