James Richard Griffith of Aubrey, Texas, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 24, 2015, at home surrounded by family. Richard was born September 25, 1948 in Denton. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Rusty Cobb, and grandchildren Danielle and Jackson, of Wentzville, Missouri, one brother Leon Griffith, Jr., sisters Kay Miller and husband Lawrence, Vanessa Lynch and husband Rick, Lavon Griffith, Sue Bramwell and husband Dave, and Kathy Medlin and husband Tom. Richard is also survived by two brothers of choice, Tommy and Timmy Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Conway Griffith, brothers Bobby Lee and Scooter Bill Griffith, and his parents and stepfather Leon Griffith, Mildred Griffith Silk, and Chuck Silk.
He was retired from Denton Municipal Electric where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of the Masonic and Elks Lodges. He attended Green Valley Baptist Church in Aubrey, TX.
Richard was known as a "man's man", avid hunter and fisherman who believed in and supported gun rights. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and TSRA.
Visitation will be at DeBerry Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. Per Richard's request, there will be a private burial at Belew Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to Betty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NRA.
