James Richard Higgins, 88, of Denton, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016. He was born December 6, 1927 to Victor Higgins and Berthe Cruzen. He married Linda Crozier July 21, 1974 in Dayton, OH. He was a Merchant Marine and served with the USMC in WW II and the Korean War. He was a retired Police Chief from Vandalia, OH.
James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Higgins, two daughters, Teresa Adams of OK, and Donna Volz of TX, two sons, Michael Higgins of MN and Thomas Higgins from OH, one sister, Marilyn Brong of MI and brother, Patrick Higgins of AZ. He had thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society or the Denton Animal Support Foundation.
