James Philip Leonardi, known affectionately as Jym, passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 71, in Denton, Texas. Born on December 2, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois to Madeline and John "Jack" Leonardi. Jym was a vibrant soul known for his humor, fascinating stories and ability to light up any room.
Jym is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; children, Christopher Leonardi (Angee), Brittany Saladino (Andrew), and Melissa McHugh (Matt); brother, John Leonardi; sisters, Maree Leonardi-Meli and Ann Brask; and grandchildren, Ellie Saladino and Joy and Tucker McHugh, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline Samec and John Leonardi, and his brother, Patrick Leonardi.
Educated at St. Vincent Ferrer School and Elmwood Park High School, Jym furthered his education by earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and two master's degrees in Finance and International Management from Dallas Baptist University. His illustrious career involved working in and across 23 countries, where he managed global infrastructure. He retired as the Executive Director of IT Operations at Trinity Industries. He also held significant positions at Texas Instruments, Symphony Services, and Moore Corporation.
A member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jym was deeply involved in his faith community. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the Honor Guard. Jym loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren and enjoyed taking family trips to the lake. He was a world traveler and experienced many trips with family and friends. Jym's favorite hobbies and activities included playing golf & tennis, volunteering at professional golf tournaments and riding his Harley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, with a rosary preceding at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, or the Momentous Institute, honoring Jym's memory.
