IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James H.
Normile
October 16, 1923 – April 19, 2017
James H. Normile (Jim) died April 19, 2017 at age 93. He was born in Denton, Texas on October 16, 1923 and lived his entire life in Denton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Jim married his high school sweetheart Carole Hurst in 1946; she died in 2011.
Work was Jim's life- he worked from childhood until he was 90 years old and was forced to sell his business Barney's Auto Supply on Hickory Street. He was a fixture in that old building who enjoyed talking to anyone who came by. He knew Denton for 93 years and liked to talk about its history and "the good ole days".
The other passion in Jim's life was baseball. He played softball as a young man and was quite a good pitcher. Later he coached Denton Boys Baseball for many years. Finally he became a spectator and would watch any baseball game on T.V.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Linda Ganzer and husband Carl; grandson, Greg Ganzer and wife Tracy; granddaughter, Susan Leath and husband Caleb; great grandchildren, Brody Ganzer, Allison Leath and Andrew Leath. He is also survived by brothers, Tom Normile of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Billy Jack Normile of Denton.
He is preceded in death by brother, Joe Normile.
