Obituary

James Michael Owen, 75, of Denton, Texas passed away in Richardson, Texas on Friday, February 25, 2022. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 27, 1946 to Wilbur and Mary Anita Owen.

He attended schools in Louisville, Kentucky earned his BA in History at Bellarmine University. Served in the United States Army. He was a devout catholic and enjoyed working with the union and passing his extensive political knowledge to his best friends Paula Richardson, Eddie Moreno, and Victoria Allen. He loved working on his 1982 Chevy truck and making sure people heard the engine roar. James (Jim) was also very involved in the local political scene in Denton, Texas.

He did not retire; he was still actively working at Denton County Transit Authority as a bus operator and was proud that he had attended every DCTA board meeting from 2011-2022. He was a member of the City of Denton Mobility Committee, on the board for the Denton Public Library, and was an Executive Board Officer of ATU local 1338. He was also a volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity group.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Pat Owen.

James is survived by his daughter, Tara Goss of Massachusetts, granddaughter, Mia Goss of California, his sister Mary Carmel Owen of New York and his identical twin brother Thomas Joseph Owen of New Jersey.

He will be reunited with his wife at Bowling Green Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
