James Robert Russell, born January 23, 1928 in Ft. Worth, Texas, the only child of E.A. and Ruth Russell passed away on July 29, 2018 at the age of 90.
He was born and reared on the north side of Ft. Worth and attended North Side High School and T.C.U. On March 3, 1950, he married Marcy Lou Hargrove of Ft. Worth, and the same year he started working as an insurance adjuster and was an insurance adjuster for 45 years. In 1962, he and Marcy started Russell Claims Service in Denton, Texas and operated the business for 34 years before retiring. Their adjustment firm was a member of the Texas Association of Independent Adjusters. At age 21, he became a Master Mason in Masonic Lodge #942, and a member of Chapter, Counsel, Commandery, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, and Moslah Shrine, being a member of over 60 Years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Denton, Searchers Sunday School Class, Denton Country Club, North Texas Shooters Association, and a member of the Petroleum Club in Ft. Worth. He and his wife shared 47 years of friendship in Super Club.
He enjoyed golf, skeet and trap shooting. He had a gift of sharing the best stories of his life and experiences.
James is preceded in death by his parents, E.A. and Ruth Russell and his wife, Maurese Russell.
He is survived by his son, James Russell, Jr, and his wife Ann, of Santa Monica, California, daughters, Karen Russell of Denton, and Anne Shugart and husband Clyde of Odessa, Texas. He had five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Ft. Worth, Texas. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a donation to First United Methodist Church of Denton, or The American Cancer Society.
