James "Jim" Sisk's Obituary

James "Jim" Ernest Sisk died on February 23, 2019, in Denton, Texas after declining health due to a stroke. He was 83.

Jim was a friendly and outgoing man who never met a stranger and loved his family and friends. Born in Plymouth, Indiana, he grew up roaming the countryside where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Being a son of Indiana, his heart never left his home state.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Indiana University and went on to earn a Master's degree in Business Economics from the University of Dallas.  He worked in the manufacturing and telecommunications industries for most of his career.

He enjoyed classical music along with other genres. Proudly serving in the US Army, he was deployed in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1955.  He was an avid reader, could finish the NY Times crossword puzzles faster than just about anyone, and loved to debate current events and politics.  He celebrated his Irish heritage, especially later in his life, when he was able to enjoy a trip with his children to Ireland. He also developed a passion for motorcycles and toured parts of the country with friends and family early in his retirement.

Jim is survived by a daughter, Roberta Farmer of Denton Texas, two sons, Bill Sisk of San Antonio, and Greg Sisk of Brooklyn as well as a sister, Patricia Franz of Jackson, Ohio. He had 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who he loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of Jim's favorite charities which are the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust and The Fisher House Foundation.  Arrangements are pending for services at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
