James Bradley "Brad" Stewart
James Bradley "Brad" Stewart, 51, of Argyle, Texas, passed away on July 15, 2026, doing what he had spent his entire life doing: helping others. Born on January 14, 1975, in Tyler, Texas, Brad lived a life defined by service, compassion, faith in people, and unwavering love for his family.
Brad grew up in Overton, Texas, where he graduated from Overton High School. As a teenager, he began serving his community as a volunteer firefighter, a calling that would shape the rest of his life. After high school, he pursued a career in emergency medical services, becoming an EMT, then a paramedic, and eventually a flight medic. Caring for others was never simply a job to Brad; it was his purpose. He was respected as a leader among his peers and recognized for his exceptional leadership, but those who knew him best understood that his greatest reward was making a difference in the lives of others.
Brad earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Baker College before transitioning into a career in oil field safety. While he enjoyed the work, the decision was driven by something even more important to him: being home in the evenings and spending more time with his family.
At the center of Brad's life was his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife, Liz. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, faith, and unwavering devotion to their children, Ashley and Zachary. Brad found his greatest purpose and joy in being their dad. Whether he was coaching a team, playing in the yard, cheering from the sidelines, or simply offering encouragement, nothing brought him greater joy than watching his children grow.
One of Brad's proudest accomplishments was celebrating his sobriety. A lifelong Christian, his faith in Jesus Christ became an even greater source of strength throughout his recovery, deepening his relationship with God and shaping the way he lived each day. His journey became a source of hope for countless others as he openly shared his story, offering encouragement, compassion, and support to anyone facing addiction or difficult circumstances. He believed that no one was beyond redemption and that, through God's grace, every person deserved another chance.
Brad is survived by his loving wife, Liz Stewart; his children, Ashley Stewart and Zachary Stewart; his father, Jimmy Stewart; his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Michael Rhodes; his brother, Brandon Stewart and wife Jennifer; his parents-in-law, Paul and Jane Silvey; his brother-in-law, Wade Silvey and wife Cindy; his niece, Mary Stephenson and husband Rusty; his nephews, Hayden, Lane, Scott and wife Courtlyn, and Jason; his aunts and uncles, Brenda and Dennis Roach, and Dorinda Deaton and Carl; his stepsister, Daniela; his stepbrother, Edgar; along with many extended family members, dear friends, coworkers, and countless lives touched by his kindness.
Those who knew Brad understood that helping others wasn't just what he did; it was who he was. From the beginning of his career in emergency services to his final moments, he placed others before himself. He passed while trying to save Hershey, leaving this world the same way he lived in it with courage, selflessness, and unconditional love.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 p.m., at Milestone Church Argyle Campus.
Brad's legacy will not be measured by the titles he held, but by the people he loved, the lives he saved, the hope he gave, and the example he set. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who admired him, and a community made better because he was part of it. His impact will continue to be felt for generations by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
