James Barry Swinford, 63, of Denton passed away at his home on September 21, 2019. He was born on April 10, 1956 in Fort Worth, Texas to Nellie (Vann) and James R. Swinford.
James "Barry" Graduated Denton High School in 1974. James enjoyed working on cars and riding motorcycles in his youth. James joined the Army upon high school graduation, and was proud to serve his country. During his time in the service, James was deployed to many places, he spoke most often of S. Korea. When James returned from his time in South Korea, he transitioned to the National Guard.
James attended Cooke County Community College to obtain an AAS in Drafting Technologies. He began work with Texas Instruments as a parts driver in 1983, but quickly found his lifetime career of drafting with the same company. James was a talented and dedicated employee for TI working on high security clearance defense contracts for much of his career. Although James took part time work on occasion from Chief's Auto Parts in Denton, for the perk of the employee sales rate, James was loyal to TI/ later Raytheon until he went on Disability in 2008.
