IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Thurman
September 9, 1954 – September 28, 2023
James Michael Thurman was born September 9, 1954 in Denton Texas and he went to go frame houses with the lord on September 28, 2023 at the age of 69 with his son James and sister Karen at his side with more family and friends present. He was the typical all American boy. He loved playing sports with all his friends, anything to get him outside he was all about it. You could say he loved to play cowboy but he was one even at a young age. He loved being with his granddaddy James Walter Cochran, who was his role model. He would take him hunting, fishing and teach him the country way of life. He struck up a friendship that would last a lifetime with a kid named Donny that lived across the street while in middle school. Every day you could probably find them playing baseball almost anywhere. He graduated from LD Bell high school in Hurst Texas where he played short stop and got the nickname "fuzzy". He then went on to play at Paris Jr college, East Texas Baptist, and Texas Wesleyan where he racked up many accolades. Mike would finish his baseball career in 1976 playing for the Seguin Toros a minor league team for the rangers organization. Mike went on to a career of framing houses that lasted his entire life. Mike estimated that he framed somewhere around 2000 homes in North Texas area with hundreds if not thousands of other home additions. If you needed something built he was the man. Mike was a simple man. He worked hard, very hard, If you knew him you know what I mean. Mike loved to hunt and fish and be an outdoorsman. He mastered the art of musical instruments, if it had strings he could probably play it. A lot of you probably got one of his videos he would send out of something new he was working on. Mike always had his horses around, he was a cowboy. He was a straight forward, give you the shirt off of his back and if he could help you out he would. Mike was blessed with a son, James, in 1991. Something he always wanted. As many of you know that was the greatest and most proud thing that ever happened to him. Towards the end of his life he got great joy entertaining his Great nephews Dakota Richardson and Jacob Hall and Ryder Dampier and Great niece: Lily Dampier. He is survived by his son, James Thurman of Sanger Texas. His sister, Karen Thurman of Shady Shores Texas. His neices Amy Dampier and Maegan Hall. His great nephews Dakota Richardson, Jacob Hall and Ryder Dampier. And his great niece Lily Dampier.
