In Loving Memory of a Devoted Matriarch: Janet Luther

It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Janet, a truly remarkable woman, mother, grandmother, Godmother, friend and confidant whose unwavering faith and boundless love touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She departed this world on February 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, family and deep spirituality.

Born into a life filled with faith, Janet dedicated herself to her Catholic beliefs with an inspiring fervor. Her unwavering commitment to her spiritual journey was a guiding light for all who crossed her path. She found solace and strength in her relationship with God, a source of comfort that she generously shared with those around her as a catechism teacher for more than 50 years and an active member of Catholic Daughters.

Janet was also incredibly accomplished in her Finance career, officially retiring only weeks ago! She was the longest tenured employee of the City of Lewisville, serving the city for 37 years as a Supervisor of Accounts Payable. Janet was a truly dedicated servant to the City and excelled in all aspects of her position. Her contributions went far beyond her job description.

As a devoted mother of four sons, Michael (Rae), Greg (Maritza), Brad, Patrick (Ana) and a daughter, Jennifer Ellis (Cole), Janet was the heart and soul of her family. Her love knew no bounds, and she poured her energy into nurturing and supporting her children as they embarked on their own life journeys. Her home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and, most importantly, love. Her children, whom she cherished beyond measure, carry forward the lessons of compassion, kindness, and resilience instilled by their beloved mother. She is survived by her five children and 13 incredible grandchildren who were blessed by her immense love. She is also survived by her brother, Tom Vokal and sister Lori Kuehn, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimer and Adeline Vokal.

Known for her boundless generosity and open heart, Janet had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved, especially her grandchildren. She was often found in the stands at a game, cheering them on or sharing surprises and cards through the mail. Her home was a gathering place for friends, family, and anyone in need of comfort or a listening ear. Her radiant smile and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to be in her presence.

As we bid farewell to Janet, let us not mourn her passing, but rather celebrate the incredible life she lived and the profound impact she had on all of us. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire and guide us through the challenges of life. We are all at peace knowing she is now with the Lord.
