Growing up Janice enjoyed school and church. She had many friends in school and enjoyed their friendship throughout her life. She spent her career in education as an elementary school teacher in Texas, Massachusetts and 30 years in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Janice met John in Pampa, Texas, where she was in her first teaching job and John was a reporter for the radio station.  They married in Krum, Texas in July 1968, and Janice joined John in Watertown, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston.

Janice received her undergraduate degree at what is now Texas Women's University and her master's at University of North Texas. She enjoyed family trips and together they visited 48 of the 50 states and visited with family to Germany and China. She was active in community affairs. She was on the library board in Mt.
