Janice Sue Ratliff, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025 at the age of 78 in Spring, Texas. She was surrounded by family and loved ones. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Janice was born January 11, 1947 to Winston J.D. Hodge and Betty Jo Chumbley Hodge in Denton, Texas. She married Marvin Earl Ratliff of Denton on February 21, 1964 who proceeded her in death in April 2020. She is survived by her children Shae Christakis and husband Tim, Shawn Mazyn and son, Jason Ratliff. Her grandchildren John Little III and wife Jessica, Julianna Kendrick and husband Zach, Miranda Flores
and Madison Ratliff who proceeded her in death in October of 2022. Great- Grandchildren Jubilee Little, John Little IV, Kailyn Little, Aubriella Abram, Xavier Abram, Keyonni Graham. Janice had an abundant amount of family, friends, teachers and students who truly cherished her. Her faith and love for The Lord was strong and constant throughout her life and a member of The Church of Christ in Denton, Houston
and Onalaska. In some of her last words she stated "Don't worry about me, God has me".

She attended Texas Woman's University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree as an Educator. She taught in the Aldine Independent School District over 24 years and retired to Livingston, Texas with her husband Earl. They carried a love for one another since Elementary School and through their lifetime. She missed him dearly after his passing. She made a lasting impression on the children's lives she taught and remained friends with many of them until her passing. Family and friends and loving relationships were her primary focus and she was a true giving person of love and compassion. She loved family history and had many stories and history that she shared with everyone.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate her life with us on Monday, March 31 st at DeBerry Funeral Home 2025 W University Dr, Denton, Tx 76201 from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. which will be followed by a graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
