The world lost a wonderful woman when Jaya Edith (Storhaug) Coulson went to her Lord on August 15, 2017, at age 91.  Her husband, Armand L. Coulson, was the love of her life.  They celebrated their 71st Anniversary on June 1, 2017.

Jaya Coulson was born on February 21, 1926, in Newton Falls, New York, a daughter of Johannas Storhaug and Elfrieda (Skjaeveland) Storhaug.  Her parents emigrated from Norway as a young couple and raised a family of four children: daughters Jaya, Ann Pirner and Elfreda Hetzel, and son John Storhaug.

Jaya is survived by her husband Armand (Arm) Coulson, daughter Carin E. Horn (Robert), sister Elfreda Hetzel (Harry), grandson Pete Horn, granddaughter Christine Gee (Duane) and great-grandchildren Chloe Horn, Kaitlyn and Coleson Gee.  She also leaves behind a family of her heart, Alan and Elizabeth Stewart and their daughters Thersa and Bridget.  Jaya's other daughter, Diane Lee Coulson, is deceased.

Jaya had a full and active life.  She was a theater enthusiast and performer, professional singer, and Yoga instructor.  Jaya was also an active member of the Denton Newcomers-Friendship Club for 23 years.  However, her passion was ecumenism.  Jaya embraced many spiritual paths to God Awareness but always stayed true to The Christ Teachings.  Her religious conviction and Yoga philosophy greatly influenced her health, wellbeing, and her students, many of whom have maintained contact with her for more than 45 years.  She was a prayer partner to many, all of whom she called "angels."

Others with loving memories of Jaya are too many to name individually but were always in her heart and mentioned in her prayers.  Deeply loving and generous, Jaya was blessed with family and numerous dear ones, giving thanks to the Lord Jesus for each and every one.

A memorial celebration of Jaya Coulson's life will begin at 2 pm Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the Krum First United Methodist Church, 1001 E. McCart St., Krum, Texas 76249.  Rev. Kevin McClain and Rev. Don Kirsch will officiate.  A reception at the church will follow the service.
