IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Flannagan
Boyd
July 1, 1942 – October 18, 2017
Jean Flannagan Boyd, 75, of Denton passed away on October 18, 2017 in Denton. She was born on July 1, 1942 in Abilene, Texas to Homer and Sarah Flannagan. Jean graduated from Abilene High School and was a successful self-employed airfreight shipping consultant. She married the late George Taylor Boyd in 1981 in Plano, Texas. Jean is preceded in death by her husband George Boyd, parents Homer and Sarah Flannagan, step-daughter Carol Boyd Walker, and her brother Bob Flannagan. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, October 22, 2017 at DeBerry Funeral Directors.
Jean is survived by her daughters Barbara McNeely (Kevin) of Hickory Creek and Marisa Gay of Albuquerque, NM, step-children Mike Boyd and Lisa Jesse (Mike), sister Helen Rivers of New Braunfels, TX, sisters-in-law Jonita Borchardt (Jerry), Betty Burns, and Jill Bailey, eleven grandchildren (Mike Battson (Leigh), Kathy Manuel (Demeterious), Nikki Battson, Patrick Mayo, Kadi Mayo, Jake Walker (Becca), Derek Gay, Kyle Gay, Madi Jesse, Sarah Jesse, and Jeff Henzler) and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Jean was known for her ease in conversation with strangers and her ability to build lasting friendships wherever she went. Everyone who met Jean, quickly learned that she possessed a contagious smile, a giving and thoughtful heart, and an ability to make everyone in the room feel special. Jean's greatest joy in life was her ever-growing family. "Nanny," as she was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spoiled them with lots of love and an abundance of delicious dinner parties, holiday festivities, and birthday celebrations. Jean believed no celebration was complete without multiple desserts.
After marrying George and exploring a variety of jobs, she found her passion and confidence in sales. Her "Gift of Gab" as her late husband George would say, is what made her successful in her sales and consulting career. She sold and brokered air freight for over 30 years accumulating many longtime friends along the way. Her happiest times were traveling with George, friends, and family. Together, they enjoyed their lake house at Lake Texhoma, ski trips to New Mexico and Colorado, jaunts to Las Vegas, cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and Belize, and various trips around the US. They were always up for a new adventure with family and friends.
Jean, Mom, and Nanny, will be missed by many. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Family, friends, neighbors, Hospice, and the team at the Village Assisted Living.
