“Da” Ferryman
October 22, 1956 – May 1, 2018
Jeffrey Alan "DA" Ferryman, 61, of Sanger passed away May 1, 2018. Mr. Ferryman was born October 22, 1956, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, a son of Roger and Rebecca Detrick Ferryman. He married the love of his life Yvonne Kerr Ferryman on July 8, 1978 in Denton, TX.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne "MA"; mother, Rebecca of Justin; daughter Joey McLaughlin of Shady Shores and her children Ryan and Brendan McLaughlin; son Brandon Ferryman of Sanger, and his wife, Rachel, and their three children, TJ, Lucas and Reagen; brother, John Ferryman of Justin; brother, David Ferryman of Justin, and his wife, Charis; sister, Karen Voxland of Pasadena, and her husband, Todd; best friend of over 30 years, Brian Glenn of Argyle, and his wife, Linda; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Roger and son-in-law Andrew McLaughlin.
Mr. Ferryman graduated from Northwest High School in 1975. He attended college at the University of Texas Arlington before going to the Fire Academy, where he was known as "Dr. Red Duke", for graduating at the top of his class. He became a firefighter with the Denton Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of captain. During his 34 years of dedicated service, "Capt." Ferryman worked at each station throughout the city and retired in 2011. He also owned and operated Creative Homes of North Texas.
Jeff achieved his life-long dream of retiring to the mountains of Colorado, where he and Yvonne had a second home. Camping, fishing, four-wheeling, and riding his trike were just a few of his favorite things to do.
He was an active member of Cross Timbers Community Church, where he met many friends that were considered family. He was also a member of the Firefighters Association for a number of years.
"Capt." Ferryman's last call/final ride around "The Square" will be Sunday May 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be from 2pm-3pm at Cross Timbers Community Church 312 W. McKinney Street Denton, TX 76201. A celebration of life will follow at 3pm. Service will be officiated by Brian Hackney.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in memory of Jeff Ferryman to MD Anderson in Houston, TX or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas.
