In Loving Memory of
Jerry G. Collins
September 23, 1935 – July 4, 2025

Jerry G. Collins, 89, of Denton passed away after a short illness on July 4, 2025.  A devoted father and beloved grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, Jerry lived a life marked by his faith, strength and unwavering love for his family.

Born on September 23, 1935 in Belton, Texas, Jerry was the son of the late LaVerne Maupin Collins and Norman Rudolph Collins. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Collins Spry and his beloved wife of 55 years, Della Giebler Collins.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Vicki Smith and son-in-law Michael Smith of Mountain Springs, daughter Melody Collins of Denton, grandson Jared Smith and wife Emily Smith of Aubrey, and granddaughter Chelsea Muse and husband Ty Muse of Aubrey. He was the proud great grandfather of three cherished great grandchildren: Connor, Logan and Evan Muse.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a capable electrician and carpenter before going to work for Lone Star Gas as an accountant and becoming a District Manager.  He retired after 35 years with Lone Star Gas.  In his retirement, he became a master woodworker and spent time with his family on camping trips. Jerry preached at several small congregations in his lifetime and was currently active in his church in Denton. He was a valued member of the congregation and developed many long-lasting relationships while there.  He would often preach and teach at the church when asked.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, perseverance, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.  His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the values he passed down to his children and future generations.

Memorial services for Jerry will be held at Sherman Drive Church of Christ on Sunday, July 13th, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
